Frequently Asked Questions

What you may wonder about nasal surgery.

Does nasal swelling change during the day after surgery?

Yes. Especially in the first months, the nose may be more swollen in the morning, and this swelling may reduce during the day. Activities during the day, diet, hormonal changes, sleeping position, special days and situations such as crying can make the nose look more swollen and puffy.

How long can hardness and numbness at the tip of the nose last?

Hardness and numbness at the tip of the nose can continue for months, depending on the extent of the procedures on the nasal tip and the surgical technique used. The duration varies from person to person. Generally, numbness of the nasal tip decreases to a level that no longer bothers the patient after 3 months, and softening of the nose may take up to 1 year depending on the technique.

Can nasal blockage occur in the first weeks after surgery?

Yes. In the first weeks, breathing may not be comfortable because of swelling and crusting inside the nose. During this period, the doctor may recommend certain drops, sprays and creams to relieve complaints. Products should be used as the doctor instructs.

What should be considered about sun exposure and tanning beds after surgery?

To avoid swelling, sauna, tanning beds, sunbathing and steam baths should be avoided for 3 months. For additional advice on your personal recovery, follow your surgeon’s instructions.
